Brainstorming

 LS1 and I learnt about persuasive writing

First I watched 2 videos of persuasive writing we created a poster of how to convince people then i watched a video about how to brainstorm

Next I wrote what I wanted to convince people to do. I also wrote what the world needs to do and the school.

In the end I analyzed the ideas by doing a traffic light system. Green meant to go with the idea, red meant to not try to convince people you want to do it and yellow meant you have to think more about it.

I enjoyed it because I got to know what people want for themselves and others.

Mars vs the Utah desert

First we read the first part of the text called Harintina Mogosanu Starryteller.

Next we talked about the similarities and diffrences about Mars and the Utah desert.

Then we wrote a venn diagram about Mars and the Utah desert.

I engoyed this task because I learnt some new stuff about mars and the utah desert.

Olympics

We wrote about similarites and differences between our school and the modern olympics.

First we wrote the olympics motto, the olympics creed, and the olympic values. Then we wrote our schools motto, Whakatauki, and our values.

Next we wrote about the similarites and diffreces about the olympic creed, the olympic values, the olympic logo and the olympic motto compered to our school moto, our Whakatauki, our values, and our logo.

Lastly I created my own logo and a mottoI put in what I like to do and my motto was to always be yourself.

Balancing -Teamwork

We learnt how to balance when catching and throwing frisbees then we practiced our teamwork.

We practiced our balancing by catching frisbees and also by throwing them.

Then we practiced our teamwork by playing a game where you pass the frisbee to each other and tried throwing it in the net. We jumped so we could stop and face towords the side so we could get a good posistion to throw the frisbee into the net.

Then we had to chase the frisbee before it touched the ground and stop moving when you catch the frisbee.

I need to inprove on my stopping and balancing becuase when I was catching the frisbee I couldn't stop moving.

Maori questions

For maori we wrote questions of where food is supposed to go for example kei hea te.../where is the. 

Then we answered the questions useing roto runga and waho .

Next we put pictures onto a slide to tell where food goes for example banana/ panana, frezzer/ pouaka makariri. 

We used the maori dictionary to see how to say fruits in maori.

Measurement

We learned about the units of Measurement.

We had to write the short veirsions for the units, for example millimetres = mm.

Next we measeured two things in the classroom to see how many centimetres (cm) the objects were.

Then we had to write how many millimetres you need to make 1 centimetre (10mm)  and 100 centimetres makes 1 meter and 1000 metres make 1 kilometre.

Balance callange

We made our own challenge based on balancing.

First, we planned out what challenge we were doing. Our plan was to stand on one leg and swing our arms back and forth while holding the bottle.

Next, we tested out our challenge by avoiding our tipping point while making the bottles touch each other.

Lastly, we took a photo and recorded our results and we made our poster. 

I need to get better at my print design rules becuase I was struggling with my print resign rules.

 

Prepotions

I learnt about prepotions in maori.

I learned how to say left (maui), right (mato), above (runga) by playing a game called maui and mato where we had to move a stick left or right.

Next I answered questions to tell where items were by using prepositions.

Pla

Movment

This week we learned reflection, rotation, and translation.

A reflection is when you take an image for example you have your hand to the left and the reflection flips it over to the right.

A rotation is taking an image then turning it around.  In real life you can turn 90 degrees, 180 degrees, or 360 degrees.

Translation is when you move from left, right, forward, and backwards, you are sliding the image.

Main ideas

The book Bright Fine Gold is about gold miners in caves mountains.

cuase and effect

We wrote a cause and effect sentence for each of our mechanisms 

I wrote the mechanisms for how chocolate is made and how fireworks work.

I wrote the mechanisms and used cause and effect to put inside the mechanisms. 

Chocolate:
Chocolate is made by roasting the cocoa beans and removing the nibs in order to blend it to form a liquid.

You then pour it into a mold so it can set. The shape and size of your mold effects

The chocolate that results when you put the chocolate in the frezeer to harden.

Fireworks:
Cylindrical paper containers are used in order to hold all the firework parts together.

The fuse is used to create delays in order for the firing of multiple firework displays.

The bursting charge is used when the explosion goes off sometimes stars are included with the reaction.

Next time, I should work on my mechanisms to add more information.

Basic Fact Boxes

I worked on a can-do called Basic Facts Boxes

I did the speed demon challenge. I did addition up to ten.

My time was 4 minutes and 55 seconds I got 100 out of 100 corecet. Next time I will improve my time by

practicing at home and at school.

Hook

Yesterday I watched a video of an introduction and wrote hooks. 

First we got to practise writing hooks by writing hooks about our teacher. Hooks catches people's attention by using surprising facts and a question.

Next we wrote hooks about how chocolate is made, the life cycle of a butterfly and how fireworks work.

After that we wrote an introduction for the 3 texts.

Did you know that butterflies only live for a few weeks? The butterfly life cycle starts with an egg, caterpillar, chrysalis and a butterfly. Did you know that it takes 28 to 30 days to complete the life cycle.

Did you know it takes about 400 cocoa beans to make one pound of chocolate. Chocolate is made by roasting cocoa beans, removing nibs and lastly blending the nibs to form a chocolate liquid. The chocolate takes 5 or 8 days depending on what chocolate it is.

Did you know that fireworks were made over 2000 years ago. The parts of a firework are the cylindrical paper container with string, a fuse, a bursting charge made with gunpowder and stars for the reaction. This process only takes 2 hours.

Next time, I should work on my introduction to add more information.

Simple machthins

Did you know that there are 3 similar simple machines. They are: wheel and axle, pulley, and screw. Simple machines were used to make work eaiser.

Idoim

A idiom is a phrase that has a diffrint mening to a sentence.

Calendars

Calenders show us the day,week or month.

There are twelve months in the year, they are; January February March April May June July August.

Months have 28,30 or 31 days.

There are number patterns on a callender by looking For Four connecting days for example 20,60,100

Knowing before and after number sequence and 7 timestables reading a calendar.

Cuase And Effect

We learned what cuase and effect is.

First we put an explanation back to together.

Next we learned about causal languge It is a word that  goes  in betwen a text , for example I ate becaue I was hungry. 

We had to put the the life cycle of a butterfly text in order.

then we had write cause and effect sentences about the life cycle.

The three simailor simple machins

The wedge pulls stuff apart, the lever helps lift heavy obgexts, and the inclided plane helps you move somthing from high to low.These are simaliar simple machins.
